Band Boosters Information
Marching Season – Booster Volunteer Opportunities

The Connally Band Boosters are the backbone of the Cougar Band Program. The CHS band parents have a history of supporting our students through many volunteer opportunities – please consider helping this marching season in one or more areas. You’ll see the hard work and dedication of our students firsthand, and at the same time make many new friends. It’s work – but it’s fun!

Pre-Game Volunteers:

Meal-Deal Server

One or two people to assist with distribution of meals/water to students that purchased the ‘meal deal’
Time: 1 – 1 ½ hrs

Stadium Prep
Two to four people to assist with prepping the band section of Cougar Stadium. Some lifting and carrying
involved.
Time: 1 hr

Water Prep
Two to four people to fill coolers with water bottles & ice.
Time: 30 min – 1 hr

Load/Trailer & Trucks
(Away Games/Marching Competitions) Load pit equipment, large instruments, props, water etc. Lifting and carrying involved. Prefer volunteers that can commit to doing this throughout marching season.
Time: 1 hr

Transportation
(Away Games/Marching Competitions) Two or three people needed per away game or event to drive the rental trucks or pull the band trailer with your vehicle.

Game/Event Volunteers:

First Aid

Four to six people per game or marching event to assist with basic first aid for our students. RN/LVNs are desired but you do not have to be licensed to help. First Aid volunteers go where ever the students go, walking and carrying first aid kit required.
Time: Commit to one or more games/events, please

Pit Crew
Ten to twelve people per game or marching event to move pit equipment on and off the field. Commitment to the entire season is requested. This crew works to become efficient with the process as entrance and exit of the field is timed at competitions.
Time: Commitment to ALL or Most games and events

Plumes

Two to four people to hand students the feather plume for their marching hats. They are distributed before half time or marching event as students prepare to take the field. After marching show, collect plumes and store for next event. You do not have to commit to an entire season, we’ll work with your schedule.
Time: Commit to a game/event please

Color Guard
Two to four people to assist with placing color guard props on the field before games/competitions. After marching show, collect and store props.
Time: Commitment to ALL or Most games and events

Water Distribution
Two to four people to distribute water bottles to students on the field at games/competitions. Also keep water coolers filled with cool water for students to refill their water bottles. You do not have commit to the entire season, we’ll work with your schedule.
Time: Commit to a game/event please

Concession Stand
Parents of each student are asked to work a shift at one home football game. Concession VP’s develop a schedule with various shifts, please sign up according to your student’s instrument section.
Time: One shift is 2 – 3 hrs. (you may work more than one shift)

Merchandise/Raffle Basket Tickets
Two to three people to sell merchandise and raffle basket tickets at each home game.
Time: Pre-game to beginning of 3rd quarter

Hospitality
One or two people to prepare a hospitality basket/gift bag for the visiting booster group at each home game. There are five home football games.

Uniforms
Eight to ten people to check in uniforms after games/events. If you need to pick up your students, this is a perfect volunteer opportunity. Parents monitor uniform racks to ensure they are hung properly and also make note of minor repairs that may be needed (i.e. – loose buttons) You do not have to commit to the entire season, we’ll work with your schedule.
Time: After game for about 20-30 minutes.

We also need a committed group of parents to wash uniforms two or three times during the season.
